Demonstrations:
Mr. Whillock conducts demonstrations of robots to inspire student’s interest in Science Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) for students ranging from preschool to adult graduate students. These demonstrations last from 45 to 90 minutes and use custom built, Lego based robots, solar robots and sumo robots to teach concepts including: parts of a robot, locomotion methods, sensor based control, power sources and programming approaches. Training:
Mr. Whillock teaches robot building and programming classes based on the Lego Mindstorms system to students ranging from 3rd grade to adult. Mr. Whillock conducts professional development classes training teachers to teach robot programming to their classes.
First Lego League:
Mr. Whillock has received a number of awards for his robotics work with High Tech Kids and First Lego League in Minnesota. Mr. Whillock coaches, mentors and trains Lego League teams as well as serving as a judge, head judge and referee for local tournaments. Teams coached by Mr. Whillock have won numerous awards.
